Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in Australia has over 40 years exciting history. This paper summarized the practice and development strategies of Chinese Medicine culture，education，research and regulation in Australia. From early days of being ‘dissimilar therapy’ to later being a government registered profession. Chinese Medicine has entered the university system，Chinese Medicine practice has lobbied for health fund rebates. We have written Education and Infection Control Guidelines and we have won our case to be GST-free. Use the development strategies of a professional organization as an example，by developing standards，by regularly being in contact with all levels of government，by working closely with health funds，educators and policy makers at all levels，major influence on the practice of Chinese Medicine in Australia has been achieved. The main streams of Australian Chinese Medicine profession have been able to maintain our integrity，build faith in the public and move towards acceptance as a genuine player in the Allied Health field. Chinese Medicine will continue to play an important role for health and well-being for people with multicultural backgrounds in Australia.
