After the reform and opening up，China's regional development strategy has undergone a significant transformation，from the regional balanced development strategy implemented for 30 years to the regional unbalanced development strategy supporting the eastern coastal areas.This paper consists of six parts.The first part elaborates the decision-making process，specific measures and great achievements of regional policies inclining to coastal areas.The second part introduces the division of east，middle and west zone and the scope of seven economic regions.The third part describes the formation process and implementation effect of the four regional strategies，which are Western Development，the Revitalization of Northeast China，the Rise of Central China and the Leading Development of Eastern China.The fourth part summarizes how the scientific development of key areas is promoted by the regional planning，urban agglomeration planning and new area planning.The fifth part introduces the brewing process and the connotation of regional coordinated development strategy，as well as the progress of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei collaborative development strategy and Yangtze River economic belt construction strategy.The sixth part explores the basic situation and strategic orientation of the future regional development，as well as the policies which should be adopted to promote regional coordinated development.
