With the rapid development of economic，scientific，medical and other undertakings，the contradiction between the environment in which the elderly population is located and the requirements of the aged society has become increasingly prominent. The “Report on the Development of China’s Old and Livable Environment （2015）” pointed out that the construction of the elderly living environment in China is being seriously lagged behind，and the negative impact on the elderly has brought a heavy burden to the family，society and the country. Therefore，the construction of an elderly livable environment has important value and significance for the country to cope with the aging cause，and must be highly valued. The “Guidelines for the Construction of a Globally Friendly City” issued by the WHO believes that the material and social environment are the key determinants to determine people’s long-term health，independence and self-care in the elderly. This section discusses the construction of the elderly living environment at home and abroad based on these two factors. It summarizes four features of the construction of an elderly livable environment in China，including diversified project types，unbalanced regional development，lack of coordination of social resources，and the premature construction of the public environment for the elderly. The study results suggested that the government should play a leading role in optimizing the policy environment for the elderly livable environment. In addition，it is also necessary to support and encourage social resources to participate in the construction of livable environment for the elderly and promote the construction of livable environment for the elderly.
