Based on the theory of media function，combined with the characteristics of the times and practical needs，this paper summarizes and prospects the function and historical mission of the media in the construction of Xiongan New Area，and puts forward the hypothesis of“should be”. Then，in the period from April 1，2017 to October 15，2017，the mainstream media in Hebei Province summarized and evaluated the spread of the construction of Xiongan New Area and some important plans under consideration，and made a“real”analysis. On this basis，the paper explores how to shorten the gap between“reality”and“ought to be”of the news media in Hebei Province，and tries to put forward targeted countermeasures and suggestions to solve the problem.
