Culture is an inherent soul of a country.According to the Beijing Urban Master Plan（2016-2035）issued in 2017，“It is necessary to propel the overall protection and revival of the old city，and build the representative place that embodies China's outstanding traditional culture”.“The Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” for Xicheng District emphasizes that：“We must be steered by the construction of ‘Culture and Morality’，and gain ground in promoting construction of the four-in-one famous downtown protection system”.Dashilar is not only one of the first batch of protected historical blocks in Beijing，but also an important “experimental field” for historical block revival in Beijing. In recent years，throughout the course of protection and revival of Yangmeizhu Xie Street and Beijing Fun，Dashilar Sub-district gains abundant experiences in the protection and revival of historical and cultural blocks，with plentiful fruits.Meanwhile，a series of problems also spring up in follow-up development. To this end，based on the systematic study on the practices of Dashilar Historical Protection Block，this report reviews relevant experiences and practices of historical block protection in foreign countries，with a view to provide insights and references in terms of solvingdevelopment problems in and improving development quality for Dashilar.
