The natural grassland is the important material basis for the development of animal husbandry. The unrestrained human production activities due to the lack of effective system arrangement and technology innovation exacerbate the grassland degradation and the deterioration of the ecological environment in western China. The article tries to analyze the deep reason of the grassland degeneration and the prominent contradiction between the economic development and the grassland ecological environment protection based on the investigation of present situation of natural grassland degeneration in Sunan Yugu Autonomous County within the Qilian Mountain region，also put forward some countermeasures to sustainable utilization of the natural grassland.
