Pudong New Area is not only making full effort to promote the strategically interconnected development of Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone and the National Science and Technology Innovation Center，striving to build the pilot experimental zone for the construction of Shanghai as “five centers”，but also unremittingly exploring the way to boosting Pudong’s own development and integrating urban and rural areas with Pudong’s specific features. The modern agriculture in Pudong New Area embodies the following four characteristics：the giant “gap” of development level between the whole Shanghai city and Pudong area；nationally leading stage of agricultural technology；cultivation of the new agriculture business subject；the massive effort and new mechanism on supporting，strengthening and benefiting the agriculture and farmers. There exist several main problems：insufficient back-up storage of labor；high cost of agricultural production；imbalance of agricultural technology level. In this regard，this report recommends that the Pudong New Area government should continue to enhance supporting on modern agriculture，actively explore the platform for local universities to support agricultural development，further improve the market system and promote the innovation and entrepreneurship of modern agriculture.
