The Chinese social think tank has developed rapidly，but they are also exposed some development problems that need to be resolved. These development problems mainly come from the internal operation of the social think tanks and the external environment，including the overall weakness，uneven development，uneven distribution of resources；the limited impact on public policy；the general lack of innovation in the internal operation process. Plus，the lack of social think tanks identification standards and evaluation system；too much government intervention；the insufficient multi-supportive efforts to represent the external environment of the social think tanks. To answer the problems from the above，we will make relevant suggestions based on the operation of the social think tanks and the external support of the government departments，in order to enhance the effectiveness of the social think tanks consultation and promote its sustainable development.
