To facilitate land consolidation，efforts were made for the demonstrative construction of land consolidation according to the principle of “make a coordinated plan，set up a model，start with experimental units，and give priority to planning”，and remarkable achievements were attained. In 2017，the Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Center of the Ministry of Land and Resources made an overall evaluation of the development and achievements of the demonstrative construction of land consolidation with the support from local land consolidation institutions of all levels and universities. According to the results of the evaluation，the demonstration regions and counties made significant progress in the protection of cultivated land，food security，the improvement of production and living conditions in rural areas，the optimization of structure and layout of land utilization in urban and rural areas，the improvement of ecological environment of land，and the rehabilitation of impaired ecosystem in their efforts to implement demonstrative projects. This paper gives an objective description of the details and achievements of the evaluation.
