As a primary economic generator，tourism industry in Hong Kong has experienced fluctuations caused by the decrease of mainland tourists over the past years.This article analyzes the major indicators of tourismdevelopment in Hong Kong across recent years，with a main focus on the review of tourism performance from January to August in 2018. The policy and promotion measures implemented by the government is also summarized. In addition，this study identifies current opportunities and challenges faced by Hong Kong tourism industry. In 2018-2019，it is expected that the tourism industry in Hong Kong will grow steadily.
