As China’s role in the world economy changes significantly，China need to adjust its foreign trade，foreign investment，exchange rate regimes and capital account policies to fit in the new environment. In this paper，we compared the opening up policies in advanced economies，successful catch-up economies，failed catch-up economies；and discussed how opening up policies facilitate economic catch up；and therefore draw experiences and lessons for China’s opening up policies in the next stage.
