Reading is the basic way of human cognition.College students' reading literacy is very important for their creativity and all-round development.Taking Shanghai as an example，this paper conducts an empirical study on the reading literacy of college students in the new era.Data analysis shows that the reading literacy index of college students in the new era is 78.027，which is generally at a “good” level.It shows that college students' reading goals are clear，especially “excellent” in reading for “personal interest”；their basic reading ability is good，but the depth of digital reading is not enough；their reading literacy in “excellent traditional culture” and “other interesting reading materials” is slightly inferior；their reading rate of social platform is high，however，they are not very active in publishing content and participating in reading activities；they also think that there are not enough reading courses，lectures and forums in their school.At the end，we do some self-consideration on the current reading literacy of college students in the new era.
