With the development of digital broadcasting technology，pictures have been widely applied in the news reports due to its strong visual impacts.At present，many disaster news reports have shown a visual trend，and audiences can immediately experience the huge impact brought about by natural disasters.In this paper，from the perspective of multi-modal discourse analysis，taking visual grammar as the basic analysis tool，I select the representative pictures in the reports of Colombia slide disasterto analyze and interpret in order to reveal how images make meanings in the news reports.Besides，it can offer some suggestions for journalists and reporters.
