The paper reviewed and concluded main development stages and achievements of tertiary hospital accreditation in China. Tertiary hospital accreditation development stages were explicitly elucidated from several aspects：history demanding，policy evolving，accreditation contents，exploring phase，current effects etc.. On the basic of this background，further explanations were targeted at new way of accreditation—problem tracking method，and new contents of accreditation—four-dimension accreditation. Final explorations would go through the accreditation achievements，referring to four core ideas：quality，safety，service and efficiency.
