The 2016 National Health Conference proposed that，we should fully establish the health impact assessment system to systematically assess the health impact of various economic and social development plans and policies as well as major engineering projects. The implementation of the health impact assessment system is the inherent requirement and inevitable choice for perfecting the national health policy，improving the people's livelihood，promoting social equity and sustainable development. This paper introduces the research progress of health impact assessment at home and abroad，and puts forward the application prospect of health impact assessment in our country，and puts forward some ideas for popularizing the work of health impact assessment in an all-round way.
