Building an innovative country is a core element in modernizing China's economic system，which will provide a new opportunity for deepening relations between China and the most innovative countries in the world. Along with the deepening relations between China and the European countries，cooperation in the field of scientific and technological innovation tends to be more diversified，creative and forward-looking. This paper analyzes the new trends and developments from three dimensions，that is，ST and innovation cooperation between China and EU under the “Horizon 2020”Project，the China-UK science and technology cooperation and the issuing of Joint UK-China Strategy for Science，Technology and Innovation，and the establishment of an innovative strategic partnership between China and Switzerland. These three cooperation models represent a new direction for science and technology innovation cooperation between China and the European countries，which may lay foundations for upgrading the China-EU Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into a ‘China-EU innovative comprehensive strategic partnership’ in the future.
