在新中国成立以前以及人民公社时期，我国农民的就业结构没有发生根本性的变迁。改革开放以来，由于农村财产制度、产业结构、农民就业观念以及农民就业能力等均发生了重大变化，所以农民的就业结构也随之走上了多元化的道路。但当前农民就业结构的变迁与社会主义新农村建设的宗旨并不完全相符，需要在充分研究的基础上实现二者的协调发展。
<<Farmers’ occupational patterns didn’t experience any fundamental changes before the founding of PRC and during the period of people’s commune. Since many concerning factors changed a lot after 1978，farmers’ occupational patterns have become diversified. The current occupational patterns of farmers don’t strictly conform to the tenets of building a new socialist countryside so we need to find a better solution.
