A general observation of the history of media development shows that every advance in communications technology has exerted a tremendous impact on the communicative ecology and the communicative ecology has in turn played a profound role in shaping up communications technologies. In 2017，though challenged，the traditional communications technologies that are in the mature stage still played an important role. Such communications technologies as Internet that are in the developing stage have changed the pattern of the global communicative ecology and accelerated the pace of replacing the old，becoming increasingly mature. The development spread，and application of such communications technologies as virtual reality/enhanced reality/mixed reality （VR/AR/MR） and computer-generated content （CGC） that are in the infant state are reshaping the structure of the global communicative ecology. While the emerging communications technologies have brought about “new media empowerment”，they have entailed new problems. The disputes about “regressive narrative” brought about by fake news and immersive communications technology brought by social media and the technology logistics on law and ethics all pose challenges to the reconstruction of the global communications ecology in the present-day world. By the strength of emerging technologies，China has effectively played an important role in the global communicative ecology，especially in the communications in the Chinese language internally and externally. However，the efforts remain to be strengthened with regard to the layout of global communicative ecology，the barriers in cross-cultural communications，the breadth and depth in the application of communications technology，and in cultivating a new type of professionals.
