China currently has entered the new normal of economic development，and the dominant role of consumption as the driving force for economic growth has become increasingly prominent. Big cities are playing an important role in development of China’s consumption. Studying the characteristics and patterns of consumption different consumer classes in big cities can helps us to grasp characteristics of urban residents’ consumption patterns and predict the consumption trends of urban residents in China，further develop the leading role of consumption，accelerate the supply-side structural reform，and provide reference for improving effective supply. Based on the Guangzhou Social Survey （GZSS 2016），this artical uses the Household Durable Goods Index Method to analyze the consumption stratification characteristics of urban residents in Guangzhou，trying to grasp the evolution characteristics of urban residents’ consumption patterns and predicting urban residents’ consumption trends，proposing countermeasures and suggestions on enhancing consumption supply ability in Guangzhou.
