Community consultation is a key area in which democratic consultation can be practiced at the grassroots level，and an important way to advance the modernization of social governance at the grassroots level. This article focuses on the status quo of urban-rural community consultations in Guangzhou，and analyzes the development of community consultation. It is mainly the party committee that leads multi-level consultations. The residents’ councils and residents’ committees lead the organizational structure of the discussion platform，and others are equal and rationally participate in democratic consultations. Subsequently，the article lists three typical communities in Guangzhou respectively，sums up their diversified practices，innovation and achievements in accordance with local conditions. Although the urban-rural community consultations in Guangzhou have achieved certain results，there are still areas to be improved. In accordance with the principle of adhering to the “two combinations” of top-level design and practice exploration，setting up a “three-level platform” and constructing the “five mechanisms” are the basic principles for promoting urban-rural community consultation in the future.
