The county general hospital is in a dominant position of all public hospitals in a county, while the scale and the strength of township hospitals are the smallest and weakest. The overall strength of county hospitals of traditional Chinese medicine is between general hospital and township hospitals. The general hospital has the most operating income and the strongest dependence on the government. In 2008-2010,the county general hospitals have developed rapidly, but to a large extent, this development is the outcome of expansion based on the increase in liabilities. The growth rate of township hospitals is lower than general hospitals and hospitals of traditional Chinese medicine significantly, which is closely related to the implementation of national basic drug system. There is a highly positive correlation between the abundance of medical resources and the development of economy, but both the operation of county hospitals and medical and drug income of workers show little correlation with local economic development.
