The geographical function of a city is usually a combination of economic，ecological，cultural，and transportation functions，which directly reflecting the influence and radiation-driven ability of the city in the region. This paper taken 17 prefectures and cities in Hubei Province as the research object，and calculated the functions of the five major cities of economy，ecology，culture and transportation，then explored the development path of new urban groups in the existing urban group development model.
