Due to the growing trend of global economic integration，skyscraper economy has become a significant indicator to measure the level of urban economic development. With CBDs（central business districts）epitomizing regional economy and skyscraper economy being a distinctive feature of CBDs，both CBDs and skyscraper economy present an outstanding ability at gathering enterprise headquarters and providing the driving force for economic growth for the region. Through comparing and analyzing the experience of major CBDs in Chinese and non-Chinese cities，this dissertation examines the intrinsic operating mechanism behind skyscraper economy. It also looks at the current development of the Tianhe CBD，aiming at providing useful reference to better develop skyscraper economy.
