<<Previous research has examined the difference of nonprofit and for-profit organizations as contracting-out service providers;however,it is still unclear how citizens perceive their difference. With a survey experiment, the present research examined how the sector difference of these two types of organizations influenced citizen trust in them. The results showed that participants’ trust in nonprofits and for-profit organizations differs on the perception of benevolence(i.e.,participants perceived higher benevolence from NPOs)but not on the perception of competence and honesty.
