“The Middle and Long-term Youth Development Plan （2016-2025）” has put forward that we should “lead the youth to participate in political life and public affairs orderly” and “further enrich and smooth the channel and way of youth's social participation，and achieve the positive and orderly，rational and legitimate participation.” In fact，the youth's political participation is the important content of youth development in China. How to lead the youth to participate in political life and public affairs positively and orderly，rationally and legitimately，it's the topic which must be concerned by all social circles. Based on the data from “The Panel Survey on Chinese College Students' Employment，Life and Values”，this article tries to analyze the current situation of contemporary college students' political participation：the college students' political status is mainly league members；nearly 70％ of college students discuss political issues with surrounding people；over a quarter of college students discuss political issues on the internet；less than 10％ of college students have wrote to the news media to express their opinions;7.66％ of college students have expressed their opinions to the government departments；the college students seldom have radical political participation behavior. The college students' political participation has the following characteristics：the college students who are party members are more inclined to engage in offline political participation；for male college students，the proportion of political participation is higher than female college students；for college students who have joined student association，the level of political participation is relatively higher；for contemporary college students，there exists bigger difference between online political participation and offline political participation；under the background of internet's embedded development，the situation of inadaptation still exists for the traditional concept of “political concealment”.
