The development of public opinions concerning agriculture，rural areas and farmers in 2017 experienced ups and downs. Compared with the first half year，the latter half maintained relatively stable. Mainstream media served as the main source of public opinions concerning agriculture，rural areas and farmers in Gansu province，and social media such as WeChat and Weibo were main communication channels. Public opinions actively focused on some topical issues. For example，the agricultural structure was optimized and strengthened，and a wide range of distinctive agricultural brands gained their popularity；the Gobi agriculture was ingeniously proposed and the former Gobi deserts turned into rich rice-producing areas；distinctive and competitive industries were developed to alleviate poverty，and the rectification of conducts concerning poverty alleviation provided strong support；local government officials striven to be “online celebrity” to market local agricultural products. Besides，events such as the deputy chief of Jingtai county marketing Chinese wolfberry on the concert of Black Panther and prohibitive betrothal gifts in some rural areas also aroused heated discussion on the Internet.
