The public opinions concerning agriculture，rural areas and farmers in Beijing in 2017 exhibit a trend of mild fluctuation，with social media account for over 70% of the flow of public opinions. Following topics have got public attention：progress in green urban agriculture development of Beijing featuring “readjusting structure，transforming development patterns and promoting water-efficient agriculture”，coordination between Beijing，Tianjin and Hebei province in developing non-staple agri-food production，joint efforts to promote IT application and integrated development of agriculture and rural areas，construction of houses for leasing on collectively owned land，achievements in rural environmental improvement，implementation of rural vitalization strategy and progress in developing beautiful countryside，among others. The inconvenience of urban residents in buying food and groceries and other problems related to people’s daily life arising from the efforts to transfer non-capital functions and low-end industries in a bid to transform and upgrade urban development have aroused heated discussion.
