This paper systematically and comprehensively analyzes the development status and future trends of pedestrian protection technology from the aspects of road traffic environment and accidents，the national pedestrian protection evaluation systems in main regions and countries，and the development of pedestrian protection technology. Combining with China’s real conditions，it points out the practical significance of conducting research on pedestrian protection in China and the opportunities and challenges of developing pedestrian protection technology in China. China urgently needs to grasp the development opportunity，promote the advancement of pedestrian protection technology，and improve the level of Chinese pedestrian protection technology.
