As the two models of passenger cars，cars and SUVs have always been the products with larger sales. With the gradual improvement of people’s safety awareness，the importance of vehicle safety，especially side collision safety，is increasing. Side collisions，especially during driving at high speeds，can make the vehicle’s tail collide with adjacent lane vehicles or guardrails or trees，etc. due to the the punctures or other reasons. They should be paid more attention during development. This paper focuses on GB，ECE，C-NCAP 2018，E-NCAP2015，IIHS and other standards involved in the development of side safety，and conducts research and discussion on side safety development.
