《江苏文库·史料编》收录有关江苏的地方史料类文献。地方文献是历史记忆的载体，江苏地方文献承载了江苏人民的集体记忆。整理江苏地方文献，就是要唤起江苏的文化记忆，再现历史场景；研究地方文献，也就是发掘地方的文化底蕴。这对提炼一个地区内在的文化灵魂，塑造独特的精神气质，具有十分重要的意义。“史料编”按照江苏地方文献的实际情况分类编排。
